Developed by Microsoft, this software allows us to write programs for many different platforms using different programming languages.

Is Visual Studio Program Paid?

Visual Studio program is paid and quite expensive software. However, there are versions available for free. Free versions were published under the name Express until 2015. Today, free versions of Visual Studio are available under the name Community.

Express products used in the past were in different packages for developing web applications and different packages for desktop applications. Today's Community product is used for both.

Installing the Visual Studio 2019 Community Program

You can click the link above to install the latest free version of Visual Studio software. Click the download button for the Community version. First, a small installation file will download. We start the installation by running that file.

During installation, we will choose which components of Visual Studio we want to install. 

In addition, after a while, after starting to use the program, the Visual Studio program will ask us for a license. That's when we need to sign in using a Microsoft account (like Outlook, Hotmail or Windows Live).

If you want to install the latest version, you are done. If you want to install an older version, read on.

*Warning: If you get an error like "Your .Net Framework version is old" during the installation of the program, you need to install the .Net Framework software. Net Framework software is the platform that enables the programs we will make with Asp.Net to run on our computer.

Installing Older Versions - Downloading Visual Studio Express

There are versions of Visual Studio program such as 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017. There is also a free version of each (express or community) and the desired version can be downloaded from the website below.

Windows10 operating system can open iso files directly, but if we have a different operating system, we have two options to open this file:

• We can burn the file to DVD and install the program from this DVD.
• By using the Virtual Cd/Dvd program, we can access this file and start the installation.

If you do not have a Virtual CD/DVD program on your computer, you can download it from here.

With this program, we can open the Visual Studio pattern file and perform the installation.

• Run the PortableWinCdEmu program.
• Click the Mount Another Image button.
• From the window that opens, select the pattern file (VS2012….) we downloaded and say OK.
• Then in the my computer window it will appear as if a dvd is inserted in the computer. Run the setup file (wdexpress_full etc.) by entering this dvd.

When the installation is finished and the program is running for the first time, it will ask us for a password. Retrieving the password is not a paid process. We just need to register. We will also need a Microsoft account for this. (hotmail, outlook, windowslive etc.)

You will see “Register online” or a similar link in the window asking for the password. When you click on this link, log in with your Microsoft account on the page that will open, fill in the mandatory fields in the form and click the "next" button at the bottom. The password will be given to you on the new page. Copy this password back to the program and paste it where necessary.

After installing the program, we can also download and install a language pack.
